               When the Swallows Came Early

1.  Groovy walks with her dad and while she's walking the police take her dad.
2.  Groovy went to tell her mom that her dad got taken by the police and she told her but her mom said she was the one who called the police on Groovy's dad.                                  
3.  Groovy had a good memory of making chocolate covered strawberries with her dad. Mama would not talk to Groovy so she left a note to her saying she went to the swallows. 
4.   Groovy went to the swallows and helped Luis  cook. Frankie always loved the birds because he could count on them.
5.   Groovy and Luis were accidentally spraying water on someone's picture then a little boy Felix came and said they were spraying water on his sister's master piece.They could tell his sister liked birds.Felix told them his sister gonna  open a art gallery. Then Frankie got a letter from his mom and he didn't even read it he tore it up to pieces.
6.    Frankie got a letter from his mom because his mom and step-dad were going to fish in the southern waters because there were big catches there.They were going there for about 2 or 3 weeks but they went for 2 years!! Then Mr. Tom came and sat down by Frankie and played his guitar.
7.      Frankie and Groovy went on a dinghy.there was a lot of fog outside so Groovy said it was a bad idea.When they took it out Frankie was steering it. a lot of rocks hit it. It made a hole.Frankie said he'll be right back ,and while he was doing Groovy started bailing out water.Finally Frankie came back with a box full of post cards from his mom.He put a rock on it and sank to the bottom.Then they went back to shore. 
8.   Finally mama wrote a note back to Groovy saying she has an appointment but when she comes back they'll talk. So Groovy took her moms advice and was nice.(she cleaned put roses on the table and made dinner)When it comes to dinner Groovy knew the food for every situation. So for tonight when she knew there was going to be bad news it was Gorton's frozen fish sticks. When mama came she said we were going out to dinner so Groovy got mad and blurted out "why did you call the police on daddy?".Her mom said she would tell her she said she would be right out.

9. A million minutes later it seemed like, (to Groovy)mama came out.Then they went out to dinner. mama said to the waiter"we'll have two virgin strawberry margaritas. Groovy was not patient she waited and waited for mama to tell her why she called the police Finally she asked the waiter to give her some privacy so she could tell her.but before she told her about that she was telling her about the story of her great-grandmother Eleanor Robinson.    

10.  Groovy's mom told groovy about her grand mother the most important thing mom told her was that her grandmother had saved $25,000 in the bank. Groovy wanted to use that money to pay for cooking school.(in the future)

11.They were still in the restaurant and there food still hadn't come yet so they ordered two specials to go and left Groovy's mom still didn't tell Groovy about her dad.  

12. finally mom had told Groovy about her dad what had happened was,her dad had gotten the money secretly from the band and went to the horse races he made a bet and lost the money.

13. Groovy was mad at her dad for doing that she was planing to use her money for cooking school but her dad spent it all now she has to sell chocolate covered strawberries and stuff.

14. Groovy and her mom were lying in bed talking about her dad.

Groovy's mom said her dad would be in jail for a while Groovy's mom cooked some liquid Tylenol (tea) for groovy and her.

15. Groovy was walking to the Swallows with Frankie then all the sudden Frankie's long lost mother came. Frankie was really shocked.

16. Frankie, Groovy and Frankie's mom came to the swallows Frankie was so mad at his mother for staying at the place for two years. Frankie's mom kept on calling Frankie Fransisco so he got annoyed.

17. Frankie was still mad  at his mom it seemed liked he was never going to forgive her. Groovy made a list of what frankie did.

18.Luis gave Groovy a paper full of recipes. But she wished for better information about like how to cool a cake.Felix and Marisol came by and looked at the chocolate covered strawberries.  Someone bought one of Marisol's pictures and she used the money to buy one of Groovy's strawberries.

19. There was a big cardboard box in the hall closet and they really wanted to see what was in it so they carried it to the kitchen floor.

20.In the big box was a key. Groovy said it was for the safe  deposit # 173 in the bank so they went to the bank.  

21.They were at the bank groovy signed her grandmother name (her  name) in her grandmothers hand writing the best she could. 

22. she went to the safe deposit used the key on it and in the safe was 7 marked out lottery tickets but one was for  $25,000.

23. Groovy was upset that she didn't find anything but she knew her daddy was the one who used the money.

24. Groovy decided she should be called Eleanor. Felix wanted to know what was in the bank he was kinda sad that there was nothing.  Groovy didn't really care about anything and at home she watch t.v. not even the cooking shows. Mama told Groovy to to start making lists, so she did.

25.Mama looked at the lists Groovy/Eleanor made.They were things like, brush teeth, go to school and come back from school things like that mama got a phone call Groovy thought maybe it was from her dad, she was thinking about writing to her dad so she put it on the list but she never did.

26.  There was a boat named sea fever. A man was going to the channel island of Santa Catalina. He said "so long skip". Skip was Mr. Tom's nickname.

27.  Groovy and her mom went to the Grand Canyon,they got lost.Groovy thought she should forgive daddy.

28. Groovy didn't use her strawberries momma said she'd have to think of another way to use them.

29.  The swallows started coming early.

30.  Marisol showed Groovy her strawberries. She used her white chocolate to make little drawings on the strawberries.

31.   there was a kid with a official looking vest he was a bird tracker he knew the official name for pigeons.(Petrochelidon pyrrhonota) 

32.    Mr. Tom said to say thank you to her dad but she didnt even know what her dad did for him to say thank you.

33.Groovy's dad called and said that a client sold the trailer to him. So him and Mr. Tom played a card game and he let Mr.Tom win the trailer since he needed it. But if mama would have heard this story she would have remodeled it and sold it so she got a different story.

34.  Mama thought because of the warm weather that they were gonna have an earth quake. There was a wishing weed floating in the air she remembered that when daddy went to jail he stepped on a wishing weed crushing it.

35.  On mama's lunch break from the salon her and Groovy went to Jose's Cantina for lunch when all the sudden they had an earthquake.

36.  Mama counted six after shocks after the earthquake. She was mad at her horoscopes because they never said anything about unexpected events or near misses with death.

37.Groovy made up foods that reminded her of people, things or memories. She called it foodology. 

38.  Groovy told Frankie that she was gonna forgive her dad and he was confused because, after all he did she was gonna forgive him. Frankie said he wished he had a heart as big as Groovy's.

39.  Groovy's dad came home. When he came home he had a cookbook for Groovy. They started calling that year the year the swallows came early.
